Equine Assisted Learning and Therapeutic Horsemanship provides the individual with the opportunity to learn about the horse and horse-care, as well as groundwork and handling techniques building a relationship with the horse.
Taking an individual out of their everyday learning routine can encourage new associations to be formed and in a novel, creative environment in which to develop the mind.
Through the environment around a horse, a person can learn to develop a love for learning and independence.
We don't believe in limiting people and each session is tailored to the individual. Therefore every lesson will be different and each person will learn as much as he or she is willing or able.
We explore the relationship between each individual experience as it shapes our responses, exploring the horse environment to enrich our curiosity.
We learn how to be safe around horses when handling teaching various groundwork exercises and how to build coherence between human and horse.
We explore horses themselves and learn about how they live in their natural environment and how they interact with other horses and how to be respectful in that space.
We learn how to look after them best, so that both you and the horse can bring out the best in each other.
We discover how to build successful relationships and partnerships.
The art of patience and persistence as well as being able to control our emotions and building our resilience.
One of the most important lessons how successful looks for you, and how do you need to be supported in learning and acquiring new skills.
We learn how to focus by setting intentions and the importance of having a plan before carrying out actions as well as many more life skills.
Also setting an appropriate routine for sensory regulation, gross and fine motor skills development and improved executive functioning skills.
At the end of each session we discuss what was learnt about the horse and from the horse.
Transformation, reconnecting and personal growth is a journey...
We all go along this journey at our own pace so we have a variety of lengths of number of sessions. These are not set in stone but are a starting point as you make a commitment to yourself.
